THE GRIMSBY CURSE WEAVES A DEADLY TALE
The Grimsby Curse is coming to OKC's IAO Gallery to weave a deadly
tale. The experimental and original play, written
and directed by Robert Matson will feature Cast Me!
winner and Tulsa native, Lonnie Iannazzo. The
Grimsby Curse will play at the Nightingale Theatre,
Friday, September 14th and Saturday September 15th
at 8 pm with a 2 pm matinee performance on Saturday.
Since the age of ten, 17 year old Theodore Grimsby
has been locked in a dim room filled with stacks of
old letters, yellowed newspapers and faded
photographs about his family. He slowly discovers a
deadly curse put upon his empty family tree and the
only way for Theodore to stop it before it catches
up to him, is to go back to the very beginning of
his bloodline.
Lonnie Iannazzo, winner of last summer’s reality web
show, Cast Me!, plays the innocent and boy-ish
Theodore and all of the past Theodore Grimsby’s
before him from an 1800’s circus hand worker to a
1920’s vaudeville performer to an 80’s punk
thrasher.
The Grimsby Curse also features a small ensemble of
actors, who play the past lives of Theodore’s
family, friends, loved ones and enemies.
“The ensemble becomes Theodore’s voice as they try
to figure out the curse,” says director, Robert
Matson, “They use parts of Theodore’s dim room as
various scenes from the past years; a bed sheet
becomes a circus tent, an old ladder turns into an
iceberg and other fun surprises.”
The ensemble consists of Carol L. Klages, Michael
“Sky” Camfield, Elizabeth Brooks, Karola Schwartz,
Jeremy Jackson, Ben Schadegg and Holly McNatt with
Sidney Rick as Mina, the haunting quiet figure who
watches over Theodore.
Performance dates for The Grimsby Curse are Sept. 21st
and 22nd at 8 pm at the IAO Gallery located
at 811 N. Broadway.
